Explore a range of hands-on activities led by our dynamic and passionate 51�� staff right at your school. Each session is crafted to be both educational and entertaining, ensuring that your students not only learn but have an exciting time doing it. Our expert team is dedicated to making complex scientific concepts accessible and enjoyable, igniting curiosity and nurturing a lifelong love for learning.

A traveling field trip consists of a knowledgeable educator from 51�� coming to your classroom to guide your students through an engaging, fun, pre-selected 1-hour hands-on experience. We will provide all the necessary instruction and materials for your students. We will work with each individual school to accommodate as many classes as possible each day. The cost for this program is $500 per day.

Cafeteria Conundrum

Available Starting January 2025

Students transform into forensic lab technicians to crack a mystery case! Someone has sabotaged a batch of cookies by swapping out the flour, and it's up to our young detectives to solve the crime. They will examine the physical and chemical properties of mysterious powders discovered near the cafeteria to find the culprit. Working in small groups, students will dive into investigational science, gaining hands-on experience with cutting-edge Vernier technology and probes (pH and conductivity).

Colorful Chemistry

Students are introduced to the world of micropipetting, a crucial skill in many scientific fields. They'll master the art of measurement and precision as they perform a series of different reactions, experiencing firsthand the importance of accuracy in the lab. Additionally, we'll explore the fascinating differences between physical and chemical changes through creative problem-solving and scientific inquiry.

Hunting in the Darkness

Students delve into the fascinating adaptations that have made bats such successful survivors. Students will explore how bats use echolocation to navigate and hunt. They’ll use Vernier motion detectors to simulate escaping from a bat, experiencing sound waves and echolocation firsthand. This interactive activity also teaches line graphing, making science both engaging and educational.

Drop’s Big Adventure

Students will embark on an exciting journey through the water cycle like never before. In this immersive experience, students step into the shoes of a water molecule and discover the thrilling path it takes as it travels through the cycle. Along the way, they’ll collect colorful beads that represent each stage of the journey, building their very own molecule movement bracelet or keychain. Through their movements, they will gain a greater understanding that the water cycle is much more than a predictable two-dimensional circular pattern. Adapted from Project WET’s Incredible Journey.

Frequently Asked Questions

Absolutely not. Each experience is designed to be hands-on for all students so we will require the use of a space that can accommodate a single class of students each hour throughout the day.

CASE on the Road staff members will arrive at the school with everything required for the visit. We will set up in a school space, preferably with tables or desks where 2-4 students can work together, for the day. Throughout the day, classes will rotate into the “lab” and participate in the experience. We ask that each class of students be with us for at least one hour and that we limit the class sizes so that each student has a hands-on experience.

That depends on your class scheduling. We will need at least one hour with each class of students (preferably 24 students or fewer) to get through the experience. If we start first thing in the morning, we typically can get through 4 classes in a day with lunch and transition time.

You can reserve a second day for us to come for an additional fee.

Due to staffing and equipment limitations, each experience can only be done in a single space.

Sometimes, yes. If you only have 1 or 2 classes doing each activity, we may be able to accommodate doing more than one activity but that would be dependent on your school day. These circumstances would need to be discussed prior.

For each day, the cost is $500. You will receive a link to a secure payment platform that will accept credit cards or electronic check payments.

Schools will often get support from parent/teacher groups, community groups, small grants, or field trip fees to families.

Yes, all CASE on the Road staff are required to have up-to-date CORI checks. This includes any 51�� students assisting in the program. If your school requires its own individualized CORI checks, our staff are happy to provide the necessary paperwork.
